October evening

october sunset on the bay

This evening as the sun was setting I took each dog out on the deck to chase their special toy. It had been warm today, so we needed the sun to sink before it was cool enough for them to play.

I stood there, one side feeling the heat radiating off the house while the other felt the cooler air coming up off the bay. Sensory schizophrenia.

A loud crashing noise came from the trees behind the house; eventually three young mule deer emerged into open and headed cautiously up the valley.
